MAKING A DIFFERENCE
On April 9, 2025, the CHWSON team took to the heart of Willowbrook, Los Angeles, to connect directly with community members as part of their ongoing mission to reduce health disparities and promote COVID-19 awareness. With a focus on building trust and providing essential support, this outreach effort was a powerful reminder of the impact that grassroots health education can have in neighborhoods still recovering from the pandemic.

REACHING THE COMMUNITY
During the event, Ana and Giselle engaged with 50 community members, offering a meaningful combination of practical resources and personalized health education. Each attendee received a Care Kit containing:
4 at-home COVID-19 tests
4 N95 masks
Informational flyers on COVID-19 prevention and treatment

For many, this was more than just a supply handout. It was a chance to get clear, accurate information about COVID-19, at a time when public understanding is still evolving. Several people expressed confusion about the availability of free testing, which has been reduced as funding shifts. In response, the CHWSON team provided clarity, bridging gaps in knowledge and building a critical line of communication.
BUILDING TOWARD A HEALTHIER FUTURE
This outreach effort is part of a broader strategy to create lasting health equity in communities like Willowbrook. By meeting people where they are and listening to their concerns, CHWSON is laying the groundwork for ongoing support. The trust built in moments like this creates a foundation for future visits, ongoing education, and stronger, healthier neighborhoods.

LOOKING AHEAD
Being present in the community isn’t just about one-time interactions. It’s about showing up, building relationships, and creating spaces where people feel seen and supported. It’s about making sure that when someone has a question or a worry, they know there’s a place to turn for clear, compassionate guidance.
