On My Grind was founded in 2018 by LV Thomas and Dawn Brooks. LV grew up in the South Los Angeles communities OMG serves and spent 33 years in the California justice system, paroling in 2015. He knows what people come home to because he came home to it. Dawn Brooks, MSW, is co-founder and chief operating officer and leads OMG's operations.

OUR MISSION
OUR VISION
On My Grind Reentry Services is led from inside the neighborhoods we serve. In Willowbrook, Compton, Long Beach, and across South Los Angeles County, we work alongside people coming home from incarceration, young people ages 14 to 25, families affected by violence, and residents who just need a real opportunity. Our programs include workforce development, credible messenger violence intervention, trauma-informed healing, mentorship, and education navigation. We build the paths to work, safety, and stability that the systems around us have long withheld.
We envision a South Los Angeles County where a justice record is not a life sentence to poverty, and where the communities that carried the heaviest burden of incarceration now lead its repair. A region where every person coming home, and every young person growing up here, has a clear path to work, healing, and a future they author themselves. We are not waiting on that future. We are building it, one person and one neighborhood at a time.
OUR MANDATE
OMG is led by people who know firsthand the systems we work to change. Much of the public funding we steward is our own community's tax dollars, directed by county voters toward care. We don't ask permission to build what our neighborhoods need. We answer for results in people's lives.
